Progress Report - Take One

So I'm doing this whole exercising and eating healthy thing. It's extremely difficult to stick with some days but I truly do feel better when I feed my body healthy foods. Now, I'm not here to preach to you because to be honest, I have a hard enough time sticking with it myself. I've been on-again, off-again, on-again, so many times I can't even count. I'm just sharing my experience and hopefully informing and inspiring some of you in the process.

I started eating healthy and exercising after my misdiagnosis in October of 2009. Then I was off-again for a few months and I think I was on-again sometime in March or April. Then off, and finally back on (hardcore) 10 or so days ago.

You see, I'm a wreck. Staying committed is a pain in the ass.

You're probably looking at the picture above and thinking, "What the hell does she mean by "She's on her way", looks to me like she's already there". My reply to that, I have fat in places that I prefer it not be, and I'm sparing you those pictures. And I'm not doing this for anyone else but myself. And maybe a little bit for the Hubs. =)

My Goals:

1. Drop 12 pounds.

2. Tone. Tone. Tone.

3. Have Superwoman muscles to go with my Superwoman attitude.

4. Be 100% confident in my body.

5. Win an Olympic Gold Metal.

Just kidding about number five. So far I have lost 3 pounds and the muscles are on the way. My birthday is in late August and although I know I won't have Superwomans body by then, I do hope to be down the 12lbs.

I'll definitely keep you updated and if you have any advice or want any (limited) advice from me, I'm here.

(Now that I've killed maybe 20 minutes typing this, I must find something else to keep my mind off those delicious turkey burgers I made for dinner tonight.)

I am in the process of getting diagnosed. I am 28 as well and it has been about 5 years and because I do not have episodeds they keep sending me to all these different specialists to make sure that what they thought it was was primary progressive M.S. I went to my Neuro in November who now thinks because of all the tests that are testing positive for negative antibody devic's. So I have been waiting now to see a specialist for Devic's because he is certian that is what it is.
I am wondering what your excerises are that you have been doing? I just dont know if I should be doing more of one thing or another. And also how you found the motivation to start. I just feel really tired and really not wanting to do anything.
Also thanks for your blog its nice to know someone else is going through the same pain in the ass shit that I am. lol

Hi Kelly,

First off, I'm sorry you're going through all the crazy shit that happens when you're on your way to a diagnosis. It is definitely very, very, frustrating.

My exercise routine ranges from just stretching to intense P90X or TRX workouts. I have been out of the workout game for about two months now due to a new diagnosis of Syringomyelia. SM (Syringomyelia) is a fluid-filled cyst within the spinal cord. I have learned that strenuous exercise can worsen the condition so I gave my workouts a rest until I got the ok from my neuro. He recently told me I could go ahead with exercising so I'm starting up again soon.

I don't know your limitations so I really can't tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing but definitely don't push yourself. I also don't know what specific areas of the body you're targeting so I can't recommend one workout over another.

Finding the motivation is the hardest part. I had zero motivation over the holidays but now I'm ready to roll again. We all have our little slumps now and then when we don't want to do anything. Hopefully those moments will pass and you're able to get down to business. What motivates me is my health, and also looking HOT for summer. LOL! Find that little bit of something that helps motivate you. I'm also very competitive so if I see one friend losing weight and exercising, I congratulate and then get my ass in gear.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the feed back. It's mostly toning I need to work on. Oh, and getting rid of that little muffin top I have going on since my last all inclusive vacation. LoL. P90X kicks my ass so I can only do 1/2 hour of it. I have limitations when it comes to cardio I can do a little at a time due to my lower half being so weak and can go numb.
Sorry to hear about your new diagnosis. How do you manage with kids?
